Dear Friend,
On behalf of the Blessed Sacrament Fall Carnival Committee, Blessed Sacrament Parish and School and the Center for Social Services, we would like to invite you to be part of the 2007 Hollywood Carnival Extravaganza. This community celebration will be held October 19-21, 2007 on our school grounds: 6657 Sunset Blvd in Hollywood.
This year we are celebrating our 54th annual Carnival, making us the oldest and most historic festival in the city of the stars! For over 100 years Blessed Sacrament Parish and School has been a vital part of the Hollywood community. Our annual Carnival serves as an annual gathering for the entire community, no matter their walk of life or religious preference. Furthermore, the Carnival serves as our major fundraiser to subsidize the cost of our elementary and middle school, Blessed Sacrament, and also our Center for Social Services.
- Blessed Sacrament School has provided quality education and a rich social and cultural environment to local children for generations, offering classes from kindergarten through eighth grade. With the overpopulation of local elementary and middle schools many children are being bussed out of the area and parents prefer keeping them within the community - seeing Blessed Sacrament School as an educational opportunity. Although they live in Hollywood, many of our families cannot afford to pay the full tuition ($3,500/annually) and thus the funds raised through the carnival provide partial tuition assistance and/or complete scholarships to our local children.
- Blessed Sacrament's Center for Social Services upon openings its doors in 1995 has provided support for the needs of Hollywood's growing poor and homeless community. Our center provides daily showers, clean clothing, breakfast, hot lunches, emergency rent and utility assistance, legal clinics and counseling to over 70 men, women and children each day, totaling over 15,000 people a month.
Last year's Carnival generated proceeds that enabled the school and Center for Social Services to continue their important mission within our community. With so much at stake and so much to be done, continued support is imperative. We ask that you please consider the enclosed statistics and sponsorship levels. Your tax deductible contribution will make a difference to the child seeking quality education or the poor and homeless searching for a second chance.
