About The History...
The 100th anniversary of Blessed Sacrament Church is a time to both look optimistically to the future and to reflect on the past. To fully appreciate the Blessed Sacrament parish and understand how it has evolved into the vibrant, diverse community it is today, it's important to look back at the beginning; not just of the parish and church but of Hollywood and even California as well. The ethnic and cultural melting pot that is the Hollywood, and the Blessed Sacrament parish of today, is the direct legacy of the original settlers and indigenous people who made this area their home and learned to work and live together despite cultural differences and untold hardships.
The motto of the United States is E Pluribus Unum - out of many, one. Nothing embodies that grand vision more powerfully than the people, past and present, who have been part of Blessed Sacrament Church's first centennial. While we are officially commemorating the building itself, what we are really celebrating is the place the church holds in the history of the community and the hearts of its parishioners.
Only by putting a human face on the Church can its story truly come alive and resonate as a shining example of what can be accomplished through a united front, perseverance and faith.
