Liturgy Committee

Introduction

The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the fount from which all the Church's power flows. For the aim and object of apostolic works is that all who are made children of God by faith and baptism should come together to praise God in the midst of his Church, to take part in the sacrament and to eat the Lord's Supper. From the liturgy, therefore, particularly the eucharist, grace is poured forth upon us as from a fountain; the liturgy is the source for achieving in the most effective way possible human sanctification and God's glorification, the end to which all the Church's other activities are directed. (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, #10).

The Blessed Sacrament Liturgy Committee plans, prepares, implements, evaluates, and educates about all aspects of liturgy so that our diverse community can fully, actively and consciously worship.

Description

The Liturgy Committee consists of the Coordinators of the Liturgical Ministries and the Liturgy Leadership Council. The Committee meets four times during the year.

The Liturgy Committee meets to provide on-going support and communication of the ministries, to provide feedback, to coordinate activities, programs, and all special liturgies, and to participate in the planning of the liturgical life of the parish.

Each liturgical coordinator, appropriately formed and educated, is responsible for the recruitment, training and formation of their ministers. They are required to schedule, evaluate and encourage their ministers. Each liturgical coordinator shall maintain a current roster with home address, telephone numbers and e-mail address of their ministers and will provide such information to the Liturgy Leadership Council. Each liturgical coordinator is expected to attend the Liturgy Committee meetings.
