Requirements for the Bride and Groom
- Enter a minimum six (6) month preparation period beginning at the time of the first interview with the priest or deacon presiding at the wedding ceremony.
- Be interviewed by the priest or deacon for the Pre-Nuptial Inquiry.
- Provide a certificate of their baptism issued within the six-month period before the wedding which should include any notations regarding other sacraments you have made for which they have a record.
- Present two witnesses who will provide testimony that each party is free to marry in the Catholic Church.
- Attend the Archdiocesan Preparation for Marriage course or an Engaged Encounter weekend.
- Take the FOCCUS exam and discuss the results of that test with the priest or deacon.
- Obtain a California State Marriage License and bring this license to the wedding rehearsal.
